“200 YEARS OF CURIOSITY”
Founded in 1824 in Jarnac, the House of Delamain is this year celebrating 200 years of expertise and craftsmanship. Over two centuries, nine generations of the same family have cultivated a unique perspective on the art of creating exceptional cognacs, inspired by their profound appreciation of nature and driven by their sincere commitments.

A NATURALIST HERITAGE
From ornithology to botany, archaeology to history
Since the 19th century, the Delamain family has adopted a humble and attentive view of the world, dedicating time to observation to uncover its treasures and share them with others, publishing their discoveries in a number of books, or simply through conversations.
This family tradition has been passed down from generation to generation and has directly influenced the way of thinking and living cognac. To this day, the House of Delamain pursues the commitments to excellence and patience set by the previous generations: working exclusively with the first and finest Cognac terroir, Grande Champagne, and focusing on exceptionally long aging during which the Cellar Master individually guides each eau-de-vie through the intimate, centuries-old cellars of this artisan House. This artisanal and uncompromising approach crafts exceptional and uniquely rare cognacs for discerning connoisseurs.
THE BICENTENARY WILL BE MARKED
BY THREE HIGHLIGHTS:
The handover
Far from being a mere transition, the handover between two Cellar Masters is a historic moment. It’s a celebration of knowledge passed down from generation to generation over 200 years.
A crucial and emblematic role within the house, steeped in family heritage, Delamain’s Cellar Master holds the keys to a centuries-old art: transforming the treasures of Grande Champagne into transcendent cognacs.
Charles Braastad, a descendant of the founder, is taking over from Dominique Touteau, who has been the guardian of the house’s style since 1992 and famously reinterpreted Pale & Dry XO for its centenary. His retirement marks the end of a period of transition between the two men, a journey spanning over 25 years during which the House’s know-how has been preserved and enriched.
The launch of L’Oiseau Rare
a new Prestige blend EXPANDING the Delamain range.
This Grande Champagne Hors d’Age cognac is Dominique Touteau’s final creation and a symbolic representation of the House of Delamain’s pure and elegant style. This new, permanent expression pays tribute to Jacques Delamain, devoted ornithologist and director of the House in the early 20th century, who passed on his love of nature to the next generations.
The unveilING of an unprecedented masterpiece
La Dame-Jeanne du Bicentenaire, an extraordinary ode to the transmission of knowledge, artisan tradition and 200 years of craftsmanship.
This blend, a duet between Charles Braastad and Dominique Touteau, marries centuries-old eaux-de-vie that have been carefully selected over time by the last five cellar masters. This true work of art will be unveiled in Jarnac in September and sold in a historic auction.
