In 1983, in Grande Champagne, premier and best cru of Cognac, the seasons brought particularly extreme weather conditions. After a cold, rainy winter and spring, the vineyard saw summer of heatwaves, marked by a memorable July storm. Despite the fragility of the grapes and the low acidity of the wines, Maison Delamain chose certain eaux-de-vie distilled on their fine lees from a distiller of the Verrières village cru, blending them in a 350-litre red Limousin oak barrel. Moved in 2010 to the iconic Vintage cellar of the house, with elevated humidity levels, this rare vintage 1983 slowly developed its finesse, under lock and key. The cellar can only be opened in the presence of the cellar master and a representative of the Bureau National du Cognac (BNIC).

In 2023, in a limited edition 300 bottles, Delamain presented Vintage 40 years old, no-chill filtered, a revelation of a year of contrasts and exception.

A remarkable crescendo of perfumes perceived by the nose, reinforced by accents bitter orange zest softened by aromas of quince, litchi and fig jam.
